BoxScore Lab covers all 30 teams and 877 players across 4 seasons, refreshed every night of the season, and it is free to use with no account, no paywall, and no advertising. It is built and maintained by one person. A contribution, once or monthly, is what pays for the hours that keep it that way.
What it pays for
Time, mostly. Every night during the season a pipeline fetches the day’s games, recomputes every rating, lineup, and shot chart on the site, rebuilds the pages, and publishes them. When the league changes a feed, that pipeline has to change with it. When a number looks wrong, somebody has to find out why. The free data files come out of the same work, and they stay free.
How it works
Checkout is handled by Stripe and needs no account. The one-time option lets you choose the amount. The monthly option is five dollars and can be cancelled at any time from the receipt Stripe emails you. Your card statement will read BOXSCORELAB. BoxScore Lab is an independent site and not a charity, so a contribution is not tax-deductible.
Other ways to help
Share a card when the site settles an argument, link to a page when you cite a number, and say so when a number looks wrong.
